MNS disrupts screening of SRK-starrer “Billu” because it insults the works of Prophet Mohammad.

From the name “Billu Barber”, barber is gone. From the movie, a song is gone. From this country sanity is gone.

Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) disrupts screening of Shah Rukh Khan-starrer ‘Billu’ in Mumbai on Tuesday (February 17) for the reason that one of the songs ‘Marjaani’ in the film insults the works of Prophet Mohammad.

Aslam Bhai Khot, Secretary of the MNS speaking on the allegedly controversial lines of the song ‘Marjaani’ said, “The words in the song ‘Marjaani’ are derogatory. We have complaints from the Muslim community. We talked with the filmmakers and producers to delete the song but our efforts went in vain. We have gathered here to register our silent protest.”

Another activist of the MNS reacted, “The words in the song hurt the sentiments of the people. We have a great respect for Shah Rukh Khan. We wish he recovers quickly after his surgery. He is no more a great person now for us since the song hurts great people like Pigambar and Hazul.”

Meanwhile, the leading actor of the film Irrfan Khan speaking on the issue said, “The meaning of the song is cleared by Shah Rukh and Gulzar. The activists are creating a controversy only to drag the attention of the public.” MNS activists have lodged an First Information Report (FIR) against producer Shah Rukh Khan, lyricist Gulzar and actor Irrfan Khan saying the line from the song insults the works of Prophet Mohammad, the messenger of God.

Sena workers also staged protests and stopped screening of the movie. They protested this in signature style. Their objection is to the words ‘rab ke hazoor mein kasmein bhi khaali li, duniya ki oni boni kasmein nibhadi’ which they believe, insult the works of Prophet Mohammed.

The film produced by Red Chillies Productions, partly owned by Shahrukh Khan had to be renamed ‘Billu’ from ‘Billu Barber’ after some barber associations objected to use of the word “barber” in the title. ‘Billu’, a tale of friendship between a poor barber and his superstar friend, opened to a mixed response from the audiences today. Eros Pictures said it has distributed the film in over 1,000 screens worldwide.

  1. I suppose MNS can do a better job as the Sensor Board. Anyway they seem to have no work.
The activity is just intended to get a share in Muslim’s vote bank.

  2. @uttkarsh
Actually they will do a better job if they sit idle and leave everyone alone.
